Istanbul: a city of the world, a monster of a city. A city of 18 million inhabitants that is defined in history as the place where Asia meets Europe. The Bosphorus channel cuts the city in two. The Western shore is in Europe, the Eastern in Asia. Istanbul is a wharf. In this documentary, we will go in Turkey to pay tribute to Jules Verne’s hero, Kéraban the Inflexible, a tobacco merchant, who refused to pay the tax that was imposed by the Sultan, to cross the Bosphorus channel. He decided to travel along the Black Sea coastline to return to his home on the Asian shores.
